What is is? Separation anxiety is a really common problem. Essentially your dog panics when left alone. Why does it occur? Dogs are social animals – they need company and interaction to keep them happy. Dogs don't like to be left alone for long periods. Some dogs suffer worse than others: these are the ones most prone to separation anxiety. There are a number of possible contributing factors: Genetics: Some breeds are predisposed to anxiety and insecurity. Background: Rescue dogs may be predisposed.
